PALMETTO FELLOWS SCHOLARSHIP

 

Listed below are some local scholarships that will be available throughout the school year. Deadlines will be posted as soon as the information is sent to the Guidance Office. Deadlines for these scholarships are listed in chronological order.

Orangeburg County Chamber of Commerce
  • $1,000 scholarship for two seniors

Coca-Cola Scholar Foundation's Scholarship
  • High school seniors across the country may apply online to be a part of the 36th class of Coke Scholars at Cokeurl.com/Apply2023 through October 2, 2023, at 5 p.m. Eastern. Students are selected based on academics, leadership, and service. Full eligibility requirements are available at Cokeurl.com/Scholarships.
  •  After a three-stage selection process, 150 applicants will be named Coca-Cola Scholars and receive a $20,000 college scholarship. The Coca-Cola Scholars Program, the largest corporate-sponsored, achievement-based scholarship program.

Alumni Legacy Scholars Award

USC does have certain scholarships that students must apply for SEPARATELY from the entrance application process.

  • Close family member who is a USC alumni AND have a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • At least an 1180 on the SAT or 26 on the ACT
  • Contact the Guidance Office for more details
First come, First serve
American Legion Oratorical Scholarship
  • 8-10 minute speech on any phase of the US constitution
  • Winners will receive $3500, $2000, $1000

NFIB Young Entrepreneurs
  • Minimum of 400 scholarships ranging from $1000-$10,000 each/some renewable!
  • Demonstrated an entrepreneurial spirit
  • An official established business is NOT required
  • Merit based, not financial need-based

Brent Lukens Scholarship
  • The Orangeburg Touchdown Club is offering two $1000 scholarships to a graduating senior for the year 2024.  The scholarship is in memory of Brent Lukens, who was an outstanding student-athlete at here at OP.   To be eligible, the applicant must:1. Be a senior qualifying for graduation at the end of the current regular school session.2. Submit the application, essay, and copy of high school transcript bearing the school seal.3. Attend school in Orangeburg, Calhoun, or Bamberg Counties.4. Be of good moral character and reputation.5. The scholarship will be awarded upon enrollment in the college of the applicant's choice.   • Must be an African American high school senior

  • Must be a graduating high school senior or two-year technical college in the fall
  • Complete application form (download at www.sccounties.org/about/scholarships.aspx)
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Written essay on aspirations and goals
  • Scholarship awarded for $2500

Savannah River Nuclear Solutions and Washington Savannah River Company
  • Must be a child of active full-serve employee by SRNS
  • Applications available on the bulletin board across the hall from the main office.

James F. Byrnes Scholarship
  • Senior students who have lost one or both parents and plan to seek a bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university beginning Fall 2024.
  • The applicant can be obtained from the Byrnes Foundation website at www.byrnesscholars.org 
  • The 4 year award is $20,000..
Applications submitted after Januay 2 and before February 1
Buick Achievers Scholarship Program
  • High school seniors and undergraduates
  • Those who enroll fill time at a four-year college or university in 2022-2023
  • Those who plan to major in a field of study that focuses on engineering, technology, design or business, with an interest in the automotive industry

Aiken Electric Trustee Scholarship
  • $2,000 Scholarship
  • Need based
  • Submit high school transcript
  • Complete an application (available in Guidance Office) and submit in 150-200 words an explanation as to why the scholarship is needed
  • Primary residence of the student must have a current account with Aiken Electric Cooperative, Inc.

  • One $1,000 scholarship awarded to a senior planning to enroll at a two-year technical college

  • Awarded to 50 seniors ($6,000 college scholarship)

  • $1000 scholarship

Bobby Chapman Junior Golf Foundation Scholarship
  • Come to the Guidance Office to place your name for OPS' nominations.
  • May or may not be a golfer
  • Must be a full-time student in Fall 2022 planning to achieve a baccalaureate degree
  • Good character with demonstrated leadership capacity
  • Have the unqualified recommendation of the guidance counselor
  • Maintain a 2.5 or better on a 4.0 scale
  • Priority given to those who demonstrate financial need

Goat Island Boat Club
  • Live in one of the five counties bordering Lake Marion or Moultrie
  • One scholarship awarded for $2000.

  • $500 scholarship

Joye Law Firm Scholarship The firm will offer six $2,000 scholarships to graduating seniors in South Carolina who plan to attend a four-year institution of higher learning in the fall. Selection of the recipients will be based on a creative response to the following prompt:

"South Carolina recently proposed a new version of the S.C. “Hands-Free Act” that would outlaw the use of a phone for almost any reason and increase the fines. Do you believe there are more changes to cell phone laws in your state that should be changed? Do you think the rate of distracted driving accidents would decrease if these laws were different?"

SC Teachers Loan Scholarship
  • Must have at least a 2.75 on a 4.0
  • At least the state average on SAT/ACT (985/19.9)
  • Enrolled in a program of teachers education

  • Students accepted and attending USC and branches this fall
