SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION FOR THE CLASS OF 2022

Scholarships sent to the Guidance Office will be listed in the space below as they are received. These scholarship notifications will also be emailed to parents of seniors.

 

Listed below are some local scholarships that will be available throughout the school year. Deadlines will be posted as soon as the information is sent to the Guidance Office. Deadlines for these scholarships are listed in chronological order.

SCHOLARSHIPS THAT WILL BECOME AVAILABLE THROUGHOUT THE 2021-2022 ACADEMIC YEAR ARE POSTED BELOW:

 

The SunTrust Scholarship Sweepstakes is now open to high school seniors. Enter the SunTrust “Off to College Scholarship Sweepstakes” for a chance to win a $500 scholarship to help cover education expenses.  Enter at: suntrusteducation.com/scholarshipsweepstakes

 

The Coca Cola Scholarship is now open. You can visit https://www.coca-colascholarsfoundation.org/apply/.  The deadline to apply is 10/31/21.

 

PRUDENTIAL SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY AWARDS:  Applications are now open for 2022 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, honoring students in grades 5-12 for making meaningful contributions to their communities through volunteer service. Qualifying certified applicants will receive  the President's Volunteer Service Award, and will be eligible to earn $1,000 scholarship or more, a medallion, and an invitation to the program's national recognition events. The deadline to enter is 11/20/21.  Contact Mrs. Riley in the Guidance Office for more details.

 

The Harry Hampton Wildlife Scholarship Fund is pleased to offer four scholarships to South Carolina graduating seniors.  The application and criteria are available online at www.hamptonwildlifefund.org/scholarship.html. The deadline for submitting is 1/31/2022.

 

 

CLASS OF 2022, DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO EARN A HEISMAN HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP PRESENTED BY ACCEPTANCE INSURANCE?

Eligibility begins with maintaining a weighted GPA of 3.0 (B average) or better. Applicants also need to be proven leaders and role models within their school and community. And applicants must participate or have participated in grades 9, 10, or 11 in at least one of the sports recognized by the International Olympic Committee in the Summer and Winter Olympic Games, the Paralympic Games or the National Federation of State High School Associations. Your application must be completed and submitted by October 19, 2021 at 3 p.m. PT/6 p.m. ET.

USC does have certain scholarships that students must apply for SEPARATELY from the entrance application process.

  • Close family member who is a USC alumni AND have a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale

Brent Lukens Scholarship

  • The Orangeburg Touchdown Club is offering a $1000 scholarship to a graduating senior for the year 2021.  The scholarship is in memory of Brent Lukens, who was an outstanding student-athlete at here at OP.   

    To be eligible, the applicant must:

    1. Be a senior qualifying for graduation at the end of the current regular school session.

    2. Submit the application, essay, and copy of high school transcript bearing the school seal.

    3. Attend school in Orangeburg, Calhoun, or Bamberg Counties.

    4. Be of good moral character and reputation.

    5. The scholarship will be awarded upon enrollment in the college of the applicant's choice.

Savannah River Nuclear Solutions and Washington Savannah River Company
  • Must be a child of active full-servie employee by SRNS

James F. Byrnes Scholarship
  • Senior students who have lost one or both parents and plan to seek a bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university beginning Fall 2021.
  • The applicant can be obtained from the Byrnes Foundation website at www.byrnesscholars.org 
  • The 4 year award is $14,000.

Buick Achievers Scholarship Program
  • High school seniors and undergraduates
  • Those who enroll fill time at a four-year college or university in 2021-2022
  • Those who plan to major in a field of study that focuses on engineering, technology, design or business, with an interest in the automotive industry

Aiken Electric Trustee Scholarship
  • $1,000 Scholarship
  • Need based
  • Submit high school transcript
  • Complete an application (available in Guidance Office) and submit in 150-200 words an explanation as to why the scholarship is needed
  • Primary residence of the student must have a current account with Aiken Electric Cooperative, Inc.

Touchstone Energy Scholarships
  • One $1,000 scholarship awarded to a senior planning to enroll at a two-year technical college
  • One $1,000 scholarship awarded to a senior enrolling in a four-year program at a college or university

  • $1000 scholarship

Bobby Chapman Junior Golf Foundation Scholarship
  • Come to the Guidance Office to place your name for OPS' nominations.
  • May or may not be a golfer
  • Must be a full-time student in Fall 2021 planning to achieve a baccalaureate degree
  • Good character with demonstrated leadership capacity
  • Have the unqualified recommendation of the guidance counselor
  • Maintain a 2.5 or better on a 4.0 scale
  • Priority given to those who demonstrate financial need

Goat Island Boat Club
  • Live in one of the five counties bordering Lake Marion or Moultrie
  • One scholarship awarded for $2000.

American Legion
  • $500 scholarship

Joye Law Firm Scholarship The firm will offer six $2,000 scholarships to graduating seniors in South Carolina who plan to attend a four-year institution of higher learning in the fall. Selection of the recipients will be based on a creative response to the following prompt:

"South Carolina recently proposed a new version of the S.C. “Hands-Free Act” that would outlaw the use of a phone for almost any reason and increase the fines. Do you believe there are more changes to cell phone laws in your state that should be changed? Do you think the rate of distracted driving accidents would decrease if these laws were different?"

Rotary Club
  • All applications must be submitted to the Rotary Scholarship Committee, P. O. Box 2325, Orangeburg, S.C. 29116

SC Teachers Loan Scholarship
  • Must have at least a 2.75 on a 4.0
  • At least the state average on SAT/ACT (985/19.9)
  • Enrolled in a program of teachers education
