Description Orangeburg Preparatory Schools, Inc. is an independent, college-preparatory, coeducational day school enrolling students in preschool through twelfth grade. Orangeburg Preparatory Schools, Inc. admits students of any race, color, religion, national and ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, financial aid programs and athletic and other school-administered programs. Orangeburg Preparatory Schools, Inc. is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and the South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA). Orangeburg Prep became operational in August 1986 as a result of the merger of two successful schools, Wade Hampton Academy and Willington Academy. Wade Hampton Academy began operations in 1964 with its first graduating class in 1965. WHA was named in honor of the famed South Carolinian, General Wade Hampton. Willington Academy opened September of 1970. This school was named for an institution of learning established in Willington, South Carolina. The merger of these schools created a school that is designed to challenge each student to strive toward his/her greatest development. While the curriculum is designed to prepare the students for academic success at the college level, the school also encourages the development of those qualities which make the sterling character, high scholastic excellence, and responsible citizenship. As we celebrate over twenty years of the successful merger of the parent schools, we must continue to encourage our students to become the responsible leaders of the future.
Orangeburg Preparatory Schools, "A School of Tradition with a Vision for the Future."
Mission Orangeburg Preparatory Schools, Inc., seeks to provide a quality education which prepares students to meet the academic demands of college and to lead productive and fulfilling lives in a complex world.
